And here we are again. It’s a Monday. You were probably off of work last week, so the return to nine to five living is not quite what you are ready to do. Couple that with Cyber Monday, and I figure that you’ll be spending a lot of time on the Internet today trying to make the transition a little less harsh.
With that in mind, I bring you my new philosophy: Only the Good (patent pending). A handful of friends and I have decided that from now on we’ll only accept good things. For a variety of reasons, this past year has not been stellar. Some of the not-stellarness, I can control. Some of it involves drama thrown at me, and I can, and will, control how I react to it going forward. Then there is the last bit: the unknowable, uncontrollable mysterious things that life throws at you when you aren’t looking on a random Tuesday. Well, if it’s not a good thing, I’m not accepting it.
I know, it sounds insane, but so often we just accept damaging things in our lives because we think we have to, or that we should accept them. Personally, I’m wondering what would happen if I just started to push back on those decisions. I’m not suggesting law breaking, and I don’t think I’ll suddenly become magical (pity). I’m just saying that maybe resisting getting dumped on could help. As luck would have it, a number of my friends are also in this same position and are ready to embrace the “Only the Good” method (self-help book to come). So far, there are five of us on board, so a revolution is clearly underway. Stay tuned.
Did that work? Did that make the transition back into real life easier? Did you already embrace the “Only the Good” revolution? No? Okay, I can also post this photo of the Italian men’s soccer team in nothing but D&G underwear. It’s supposed to be hot– and in some ways it is– but mostly it’s awkward because you can tell they are all thinking, “We don’t normally hang out in our underwear.”
Only the good.
